I went to Knott Scary Farm on Halloween and I had a lot of fun on that day. I saw many people costumed themself as a clown, an angel, a cat or their favorite character in movies. People who was working in there costumed themself also, they have to look as scary as they can and scared all visitors when they walked by. On the way to my home, I saw groups of children was knocking on every houses to ask for treat and eating it after that. In addition, some people costumed their dog and take them to ask for treat too, they were sooooo cute in these little clothes.
P/s: I just collected this picture on Instagram but they do look like that when I saw them on the street.

I had experienced with Thanksgiving and Christmas for 2 years in the US. Thanksgiving is the time for all members in a family gathering and having diner together, they usually have turkey and mashed potatoes as main dishes in that night. Thus, this is my favorite time of the year for going shopping, they have really really good deal for this holiday and it's called Black Friday (usually start a week ahead). There is one more thing that make me loved this holiday is I can have 3- 4 days off from school. How awesome is that!

There are many traditional toys that were invented a very long time ago and passed down from generation to generation. In my country, boys are encouraged to be independent, strong and decisive. Toys which were given to them must be relevant to these elements, for example, robots, cars, marbles, yo-yo. Also, they can use their imagne and create a toy by themself such as a fake gun. Next, they can play some games which use a little bit power like tug of war, soccer, or maybe fighting.

In contrast to boys, girls are encouraged to be tenderness, obedient and good at chores. Toys which were given to them are dolls, teddy bear, coloring book and balloon. In my country, parents usually teach their daughter some basic chores since they were 5-6 years old such as sweep the floor, wash 2-3 dishes or how to cook rice. Girls can not fight, but they can tell their parents to solve that problems for them and restrict to talk or laugh too loudly.

After reviewing all 5 readings that I have done in the Communication and Culture book, I'm interested in " Culture and Food habits "on page 32-33. Thanks to the reading, I learned something that really interesting, for example, Hindus not eating their cows, an American not eating their dog and Moslem or Jew not eating pork. Also, the thought of eating these food can make them feel ill.

In Vietnam, I don't think we have any food taboo, some people can eat everything. For instance, dog meat, rabbit or snack, dish of raw blood is a famous dishes in the North. In my opinion, I think that kinda unacceptable and I wouldn't try it even once.

I'm not sure about my age at that time but it's around 7-8 years old and this was the first time I got in trouble. I rarely got the meal money because my family would buy everything I want so it was not necessary for me to keep it.

One day, I came up with an idea that I would buy some food for my friends, but I didn't have enough brave to ask my mom. At that night, I saw her was counting the money, put it on the table and left. I took one from it (~ $25); even though, I didn't know how much is it worth at that time and acted like nothing happens. On the day after, I bought food (~ $1) and the seller gave me back a whole bunches of change. I put all of it in my backpack and totally forgot. That night, my mom prepared backpack for me and she saw everything I put in there ( busteddd). She was not mad at first, she just asked me whose money was it and why I was doing that. Then, I explained to her everything, she just smiled and forgave me if I promise her won't do that again. I was surprised about her generous, the way she taught me and felt regret also.

In conclusion, I have learned a lesson, which is don't do anything bad behind older's back because they may don't know at that time, but in the future they will. Be honest is always the best !

" Knowledge is like a garden; if it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested"
I like this proverb because it's really meaningful to me and I can understand it in the easiest way. I would like to say, knowledge is unlimited because you cannot collect all at the same time or have it right away. However, you can collect small pieces of it in your daily life or any situations or just simply what you have learned from someone. It might take lots of time but if you put an effort on it, you can build it as a garden.

I'm a proof of this proverb. When I lived in my home country, I didn't find any interest in any subjects and my grade was around an average (6-8/10), nothing special much haha. However, I was totally changed when I knew that I have a chance to study in America. I have cultivated my garden by paying more attention on class, doing homework and trying my best in every exam. Thanks for working hard, my grade was improved and I had a successful interview. Therefore, studying in America is my harvest.

In conclusion, knowledge helps you to deal with any situations or solve problems. Keep learning and applying to your daily life will help you go up, but if you don't use the knowledge you already had, you cannot expect to gain anything from it.

    Hi guys,

My name is Linh, I'm 19 and I'm a Vietnamese. I came to the USA for nearly 3 years, I live with my grandparents and luckily, I have lots of relatives in here too. My house located in Westminster, near Vietnamese area so I can grab my home country food easily. I attended to OCC for 2 years, but I don't have friends much because I'm too quite, they might think I'm hard to approach haha. I'm good at listening to people's problem and giving an advice, but bad at being patience when I'm angry.

I like to hang out with my boyfriend, go shopping, go somewhere that I never came, and spend time with my puppy. I'm a dog person and my favorite breed is corgi. I often go to shelters or puppy stores to see dogs and kittens. My favorite food is spicy food and drink boba. One thing I usually do when home alone is play my favorite song with a max volume just because I'm scare :)).  One thing that I think funny is some people might think I'm Chinese.
